Below is a list of my favorite reads and resources from the week that was Jan 17th-21st.

  1. Controlling Web Typography

Lettering.js was built to solve a problem. As web typography improves, web designers want the same level of control that print designers have.

  2. Speaking of typography: Fonts in Use

Much of design critique is focused on photography and other graphics. It’s time to shed light on the most basic element of communication: the type. At Fonts In Use we’ll catalog and examine real-world typography wherever it appears — branding, advertising, signage, packaging, publications, in print and online — with an emphasis on the typefaces used.

  3. Device Classes & Responsive Design

While the task of designing for multiple devices can be daunting, two techniques can help make the process more manageable: defining device classes and designing/building responsively for devices within each class.

  4. Edison's Predictions for the Year 2011 (1911)

On June 23, 1911 the Miami Metropolis published predictions about the year 2011 from the one and only Thomas Edison.

  5. HTML5 is Just HTML
    Don't believe the hype.

I just saw the middle initial in your logo. Very cool, sir.

"Fonts in Use" seems pretty wicked. Thanks for the new rss feed!

  2. Thanks! Yeah, easy to loose track of time on Font in Use. Looking forward to them building that library up.
